Kathryn found a new job and new confidence

Home / Kathryn found a new job and new confidence

Kathryn has developmental disabilities and sought support to help her reach her goal of year-round employment. She began working with Donna, a VGS Business Engagement Specialist, to look for and apply to open positions – specifically ones that allowed her to have more responsibility and be part of a team.

With Donna’s guidance, Kathryn was hired at Panera Bread at the Cleveland Clinic. Her position is customer facing, serving as a greeter and assisting with beverage refills.

She loves her job and feels supported by her managers, supervisors, and co-workers. Most importantly, Kathryn has a new found confidence and feels encouraged to do more. She has begun taking online classes in both math and communications to build her skills – she is even considering going back to school.

Individuals with disabilities frequently experience barriers to getting hired and are often looked over when new opportunities arise in their place of work. VGS helps individuals like Kathryn navigate job seeking and find workplaces that are open to supporting employees with disabilities.

We are excited to see what Kathryn does next and are grateful to Donna for her amazing work.
