October is recognized as National Disability Awareness Month (NDEAM) and VGS is proud to join the US DOL in celebrating the contributions of workers with disabilities. This year’s NDEAM theme is “Access to Good Jobs for All” – a message we could not agree with more. It is our belief that every individual has the right to meaningful employment and the opportunity to earn a fair wage.
Every day, VGS witnesses the transformative power of employment – it gives individuals who are too often left out of our communities a sense of belonging, and the opportunity to enjoy the independence that a paycheck can allow. We also see the impact that employees with disabilities have on their places of employment – they bring incredible skill and unique perspectives and create a more diverse and inclusive environment. Additionally, studies have shown that businesses that have individuals with disabilities on their teams have revenues that are 28% higher than those of those who do not. Hiring individuals with disabilities is a win-win.
